VLC breakages are everywhere right now. Read through 'Multimedia and Games' for the last month or so and see just how many threads end in "just rebuild VLC". Unfortunately, VLC needs to be constantly rebuilt against current libraries to be complete. FFMPEG is probably the culprit here, but there's no easy solution for that. A quick look at FFMPEG's dependencies show how deeply rooted in core software it is. I don't use VLC or FFMPEG from the repos, but I though that it would be useful to point out how prevalent this problem is. |
