Details
Due to the new release schedule for Arch Installations, and
the relatively small size of the ftp-iso, would it be
possible for an auto-update feature to the installer? If the
user selects FTP install, the installer would automatically
check the mirror for the newest version of the installer,
downloads, and restarts the Arch install? This would make
any Arch CD be able to install the latest version of the OS
using the latest installer.
This came to mind when 0.8 was pending and I installed .72 and tried to install from FTP. The installer did not know we moved to mkinitcpio and the installation left the user without a working system unless they knew to generate mkinitcpio instead of mkinitrd. |

probably not possible, due to new setup may use other routines,
new isos will now come up withe very kernel release so it's not
necessary to ahve such a feature
