Description:
Since I upgraded cantarell-fonts from 0.00022-1 to 1:0.0.22-1 the char “ü” will overridden form the following char. This occurs in dialogs and menus of several applications.

I think it's caused by the harfbuzz update 1.1.3-1 -> 1.2.0-1.

Harfbuzz makes sense. OP, try downgrading that and see if the problem goes away.

Edit: wait, upstream says it is a cantarell issue.

So I wasn't wrong and the bug didn't appear until the harfbuzz update, which I installed the day after the cantarell-fonts update. That made me think, harfbuzz would be the culprit.

Let's just say the bug was there already, 1.2.0 just made it visible. Behdad said the bug also appeared with Windows' Uniscribe, I just never tested the font in a Windows environment ;)
