Description: dm-crypt/cryptsetup doesn't show ***** in place
of characters you type when entering your password for an
encrypted partition, I wish that drives unlocked through
/etc/crypttab also did not show **********... in place of
your password. I feel that it is "more secure" to not let
people know how long your password is.
Please give /etc/crypttab an option for not showing *'s (asterisks) when entering your password. Additional info: This is in filesystem 2012.7-1 (current?) Steps to reproduce: Configure a drive to be unlocked at startup in /etc/crypttab of the form: <label> </dev/disk/by-uuid/....> none Start typing your password to unlock the drive at startup and you will see * in place of every character in your password. The password itself isn't given away, but the length of it is -- I feel this is insecure :> |
