Where is this patch from? Is it coming from upstream? If not is there a report upstream?

It's mine. I'm yet to report it upstream.

You might wanna check the latest mc version first as its been out for almost 5 months.
And -git too before reporting.

Checked. The file has indeed changed but does not contain the fix. Attached is an improved version of the patch that works with both unzip versions. The patch is against mc-4.6.1. For patch against mc-4.6.2, please see:

A cleaner patch.

Yeah, I've seen that patch in Debian's bugtracker. But it doesn't fix the problem, just makes the buggy code bypassed.
