Hello, I am not really sure whether this is the right place to report the bug, or upstream, but I guess you can take care (or guide me) from this point on...

Smplayer, mplayer frontend, has various bugs. The most annoying one is, I can't play *.mov files using smplayer, while mplayer and gnome-mplayer can. The logfiles are attached here:

smplayer run:
-mplayer log: http://pastebin.ca/1252327
-smplayer log: http://pastebin.ca/1252355

mplayer run: http://pastebin.ca/1252386

What I think might be related:
-smplayer complains about old mplayer version, which is weird, since the one we're using is new one
-when moving mouse off and on the window, the video clutters, but only in smplayer - not in mplayer/gnome-mplayer

Additional info:
mplayer 1.0rc2-7
smplayer 0.6.4-1
gnome-mplayer 0.8.0-1 (just for reference)

Steps to reproduce:
1) download *.mov file (http://pk.gjhak.sk/.storage/teaser.mov)
2) run the video in smplayer - crashes
3) run the video using another media player (or different mplayer frontend) - works

Reason for closing:  Works for me

It seems it's a bug in mplayer. It crashes with this file when using the option -lavdopts threads=2.

Just simply select 1 thread for decoding in the smplayer preferences (under the performance section) and it will be able to play the file.

Yup, I can confirm this setting eliminates the problem. Any idea on the jitter of the video with the mouse, though? Does it happen for you as well?

No, I can't reproduce the problem with the mouse. Maybe you can try to disable the option "Repaint the background of the video window" in preferences->advanced, or disable the "Direct rendering" in preferences->general->video to see if that makes any difference.

Still an issue? Have you tried the suggestions above?

Hello,
the playback issue can be solved by setting the recording, and yes, the repaint background helps the second one. Thanks for reminding me about this bug :P

Err, by setting the threads decoding :)
