Description:
kmail does not show messages sometimes, and crashes when trying to (re)move them to trash or other folders in certain conditions. It only happens sometimes, but when it happens in one folder, one can reproduce it very easily. see this bugreport on kdemod: http://kdemod.ath.cx/bugs/showreport.php?bugid=79
after randomly having met another guy on irc on #kde that said he get the same bug and does not use kdemod, i closed the report there and repopened here.
note: i set severity to high, as i'm unsure about whether it can be used to attack someone using a prepared email.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
kde 3.5.8
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
please see above

I've the same problem, sometimes. Kmail (kontact) is very buggy and unstable :(
Comment by Roman Kyrylych (Romashka) - Tuesday, 18 March 2008, 08:02 GMT
does this bug happen with official kde package too? (and not only kdemodded)
Comment by Pierre Schmitz (Pierre) - Tuesday, 18 March 2008, 08:50 GMT
I cannot reproduce this error. Can you describe those "certain conditions"? And as Roman mentioned: Please try KDE 3.5.9 from [extra]. We could not really help if you are using kdemod 3.5.8.

Okay, I am the guy from irc ;-) I have the same problem here but I am using the kde-packages from extra and the stable version there is 3.5.9.

There is a comment in the kdemod-bugrerport that the problem is not a kmail-problem. I think, this could be right because of the completely different packages (extra-re vs. kdemod, 3.5.8 vs. 3.5.9), maybe it is a change of something else? If I remember correctly, the errors occurd a bit AFTER I installed kde 3.5.9 or maybe SINCE I installed kde 3.5.9, can't say for sure.

2 more interesting informations: I couldn't find a bug at kde.org and if I move the "broken" mail within my webmail to "drafts", etc. kmail shows the body again. When I am using webmail, the "broken" mails are okay.

I cannot reproduce this problem here either. Does this still happen with the latest KDE version from extra?

I just tried this with the latest kde and a brand new user - the problem is still there...
Maybe the only thing is to wait for kde 4.1...

By the way, since I updated kdelibs I have no konqui at logout, ther's something wrong with it...
And I have the problem with 2 computers, don't know, why there are just a few users with the problem...

Maybe it only happens when the email itself has certain content which kmail doesn't like. Can you attach such kind of email?
Comment by Thomas Schuetz (Murray_B) - Friday, 20 June 2008, 06:33 GMT
Well, no problem, I just give you the info-mail from your comment, I couldn't see it
the first time, I had to move it to another folder with my webmail...
The problem occurs suddenly, sometimes when I receive the mail, sometimes when I
look at the mail later, sometimes never. But if there are some mails (4-5 Mails) in
my imap-mailbox I could click around and get the bug fast...

I don't know why, but it seems the error has gone. I hadn't any problems for months.
I think, some updates killed it...
Could Vojtech Gondzola confirm, that the problem doesn't exist any longer?
