No mic capture in Acer Aspire 5610 with kernel 2.6.24 and alsa 1.0.15. lspci: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) In dmesg I can see: hda_intel: azx_get_response timeout, switching to polling mode: last cmd=0x00cb0000 Tested with: options snd-hda-intel model=acer in modprobe.conf without result. Steps to reproduce: Mic capture sound via headphones without trouble, but no capture in any program (audacity, Ekiga, etc). Playback works OK, only affected record. |

I wonder if it would be possible to get alsa updated.
In the meantime I insert the alsa-driver-1.0.16 into the kernel in the following way
$ ./configure --with-cards=hda-intel --with-sequencer=yes
$ make
# make install
After that I do the amixer and rest.

i should have known that this is a bogus bug report at the first glance.
the intel audio chipset is present in dozens of laptops and it's not specific to the Acer Aspire 5610.
no mention of audio codec has been made in this bug what so ever,
and the error message (hda_intel: azx_get_response timeout, switching to polling mode: last cmd=0x00cb0000) is totally irrelevant.
the bug report claims to have fixed this problem by fixing his Gnome upgrade?!!!
this erroneous and misleading bug report should be closed.
i'll open a new, correct, and REAL bug report.
