OR if that's a bad idea then post a post-install message:

"If you want [TAB]-completion of various cmdlines install the supplementary bash-completion package"

This is such an integral feature that i don't see why it should not be added as default or atleast told about in the post.install. I mean, is there someone here NOT using bash-completion?

I just want to add that when i was first testing out linux distros i had no idea that a package called bash-completion was needed to get bash to complete with tab; i thought it was built in and so i was very confused when archlinux didn't have this very timesaving feature :/

I'm not using it. I see a performance loss when I use it.

hmm, ok. So we have one, i should have sucpected that when i wrote the comment :P anyway, i don't think a large population isn't using tab complete now and then...

Basic tab completion works fine without it. I don't like getting tab completion for commands using these -completion packages or scripts. When I press tab, I expect to get my filename completed, nothing else.

most completions are for deprecated applications and the package seems to be unmaintained at the moment. as pacman bash completion is included in the pacman package and every installation includes pacman that should be sufficient.
