upon unininstalling daemontools my inittab got emptied and the install file ran telinit q which failed horribly because inittab was broken (empty). I'm not sure of a good way to fix this, but even an upgrade of this package would break inittab for some people. make a backup copy of your inittab before trying to reproduce...
