Wouldn't it be better if it said: Turn on udev. This will turn on autoloading of modules/drivers for all your devices/peripherals/usb disks... during the booting process and when the machine is running.

Or something to that effect, because that's what's it is doing, not "Scan hardware and load required modules" just at bootup, right?

i am against that change, because what if udev will be gone?

I agree with tpowa here. There's nothing that says we will always be using udev.

This is a comment, why does the description matter? The description fully explains exactly what it does, just not _how_ it does it

No. The description says the option is just to load modules at bootup, it's also to get autoloading of modules so the description is not complete.

yes, atleast for me; much better :) Someone who doesn't know what 'modules' are might be confused though but i'll leave it up to you wether we should cater to those people or not.
