Details

Some users like the BEEP that is enabled in the kernel. Others may find it very annoying. The default archlinux kernel compiles pcspkr into the kernel. I would suggest building it as a module, and putting it in modprobe.conf. This way, if someone doesn't want the beep they can just pull pcspkr out of modprobe, instead of recompiling the kernel just because of an annoyance.
