I'm using the testing/xorg-server 1.4-3 and
testing/xf86-video-intel 2.1.1-2 .
If I enable EXA acceleration in xorg.conf, and then try to start Compiz the X server crashes. I've surfed the web and found the same bug reported in Ubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/126425). The people there have found that the problem is a "120_fedora_disable_offscreen_pixmaps.diff" patch applied to the xorg-server. It seems to me (by looking at http://archlinux.org/packages/12963/) that the same patch is applied in Arch too (xorg-x11-server-1.1.1-offscreen-pixmaps.patch). I'd say to remove that patch since it's obviously a wrong one. Also the patch is not needed at all if you put >>>Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"<<< in xorg.conf. Steps to reproduce: Add Option "AccelMethod" "exa" in Section "Device" in xorg.conf, restart X (ctrl-alt-bacspace), try to start compiz. |

Additionally I've confirmed that the same bug is present in the
stable xorg-server-1.2.0-5 with the radeon driver from
extra/xf86-video-ati-6.6.3-3
xorg-server-1.4-4 from testing/ seems to solve this problem.
