Description:
As the Wiki suggests there is "old" software out there which depends on `/etc/hosts` having the localhost entries. Seemingly new software (eg flatpak) struggles to work correctly if the entries are missing. Having them in /etc/hosts is zero-maintenance while debugging related issues can take notable amount of time. Please consider reinstating the entries (note they used to be a thing before the "Winter" [3]) [1] https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Network_configuration#Local_hostname_resolution [2] https://gitlab.com/freedesktop-sdk/freedesktop-sdk/-/issues/1415 [3] https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-packages/commit/20928f58767d34ed6711befd6255f6a0b1706ae8 Additional info: * package version(s) - 2021.12.07-1 |
