Description:
The slock package has a bug wherein hitting the backspace key does not produce the expected result when trying to log back in. This is fixed upstream, but there hasn't been a release in 4 years. I'd like to propose adding this very small patch to the package.

The diff also switches from MD5 to SHA256.

does slock work for you? here it outputs

slock: getspnam: cannot retrieve shadow entry. Make sure to suid or sgid slock.

and does not lock
