GNOME Software is supposed to be a one-stop shop for all
kinds of software. The situation right now is that GNOME
Software still supports managing snaps with an optional
plugin, but the Arch repository only offers the default
GNOME Software build with separate PackageKit plugin, which
gives us Flatpak and system package support. It is possible
to enable the snap plugin when building GNOME Software and
there seems to be on-going work on the plugin, as is evident
by the commit log [1]. I would like to see the snap plugin
being offered as an optional package for gnome-software,
similar to how the PackageKit plugin is being handled. Even
if it works in a suboptimal way, I would rather use that
than having to use the Snap Store in addition to GNOME
Software.

We don't ship the snapd-glib library required for the plugin, and
I'm not maintaining it.
