Details

When playing a theora encoded video in an ogg file on the current arch VLC version (0.8.6a-4) the 'Video Track' defaults to 'Disable' even though there is a video track present. If I select 'Track 1' from the list it works fine. And other file types (eg .avi) go default to 'Track 1' fine. I don't know if this is an arch problem or not, but it used to work fine in Ubuntu.

I actually can reproduce that, but neither the internet nor the documentation gives me a hint how to stop that. Also configure --help doesn't give a clue. Sorry.

I find in ./configure in vlc-0.8.6c :
$ ./configure --help | grep theora
--enable-theora experimental theora codec (default disabled)
--with-ffmpeg-theora specify if ffmpeg has been compiled with theora support

You can try this.

Using --enable-theora in the VLC pkgbuild fixed the problem for me. The --with-ffmpeg-theora line doesn't.
