Description:
The last couple of days I had a hard time tracking why MAC randomization solutions like macchanger, macchiato and NetworkManager's native facility all stopped working. I blamed systemd 243 and that might still be involved (see below), but then I noticed the haveged service was being skipped. More specifically, the systemd haveged.service file seems to have issues with the 'ConditionVirtualization=!container' entree. It causes the unit to skip due to failing to meet the condition. Note this is happening on a regular Arch Linux install that doesn't involve any virtualization. I noticed the package went to several releases lately, all having to do with the haveged.service file. After commenting the 'ConditionVirtualization=!container' entree things returned to normal immediately. As the haveged package is quite important for other ones that rely on its entropy (which are now failing), I'm marking this bug as 'critical'. I don't have any hardware to test whether this simple workaround fixes possible issues when using virtualization. On a side-note (and why I think systemd 243 might be involved), the 'systemd-detect-virt' command is failing: $ sudo systemd-detect-virt --container Failed to check for container: Input/output error Additional info: * package version(s) $ pacman -Q haveged haveged 1.9.6-3 * config and/or log files etc. * link to upstream bug report, if any Steps to reproduce: Enable haveged.service and reboot. |
