Pango version 1.44 breaks font display for certain fonts.

I observed it in rofi/bemenu/swaybar/i3bar/pinetry-gtk/tilix.

The problem font in the image is: xos4 Terminus.

Steps to reproduce:
Update pango to 1.44 and restart the X/Wayland session. All applications using pango now display unknow character utf-boxes.

Workaround: downgrade to pango-1.43.
