With what kernel?

I'm not using bumblebee but my problem could have the same origins. I have optimus but my configuration uses the Nvidia card exclusively. With the latest kernel and nvidia driver the graphics subsystem fails to start. There is the message "no screens found" in the Xorg.0.log and the screen remains in text mode. The text mode is unusable since the content of the first console is repeated on the others and, while the login prompt seems to be there, it is very difficult to operate.
I restarted in single user and rolled back to the previous kernel and nvidia module.
This happens on a toshiba C55 laptop with an I5 4200M and a nvidia Geforce 710M.
I have another laptop with more or less the same software configuration and have no problems. It is an Asus with an I7 4700 with a GeForce 850M

all works after update nvidia-390xx-utils and opencl-nvidia-390xx.
