Details
The upgrade to version 18 made a game I am playing not work
anymore (more information at
https://community.sigames.com/topic/431966-fm18-crashes-immidiately-on-launch/). At first I thought this is an issue with the proprietary
game not being standards-compliant. However, looking at the
mesa release notes (https://mesa3d.org/relnotes/18.0.0.html)
reveals that this is considered a "development" release,
which came with a warning: "People who are concerned with
stability and reliability should stick with a previous
release or wait for Mesa 18.0.1".
Shouldn't it then have been appropriate to wait until 18.0.1 to push the update into the repositories? |

You aren't forced to -Syu when such new stuff comes in but this is
Arch linux and not some distribution that stays with outdated
software. Either downgrade or work with upstream to fix it if it
hasn't been solved in mesa-git.
