Description:
I updated the nvidia-utils package to 387.34-4 . After the update and reboot, and after login, gnome 3 wont start anymore. I looked into journalctl, but I could not find any errors. A rollback to nvidia-utils 387.34-2 made it possible again to start the UI.

It seems to be the similar problem, but in my case, i never could start gnome, and I did not have kde or similar installed, so that I could test that.

In my case, I was able to start, because I was using Mate without a compositing wm.


Anyway, check out the new nvidia-utils from testing, it might fix the issue
