The orginal reason isl inclusion in the gcc package is no longer valid as gcc is folloowing the isl trunk. As stdc++, lots of package depends on gcc because they link to stdcxx. It should like other gcc libs, in the gc- lib package

libstdc++.so is in gcc-libs. Looking at the 55 package that depend on gcc (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/testing/x86_64/gcc/), they all look genuine dependencies on a compiler and nothing to do with libstdc++.

The reason for building against a given version of isl is that isl keeps (or at lest kept) changing interface. So gcc would not build against the latest isl releases without patching until the next gcc release was made. The gcc package uses the latest isl release on the gCC infrastructure site: ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/infrastructure/

Well The reason for isl, it can be share by all gccs. Maybe a isl-gcc package.

I stopped a separate isl package due to constant complaints about it being out of date. Also, helpful devs updated it, and then I needed to downgrade...
