Details

The default udev ruleset includes this rule:

KERNEL=="card[0-9]*", NAME="dri/%k", GROUP="video"

but the cardX device is created as follows:

crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 226, 0 2006-09-18 23:12 /dev/dri/card0

This does not appear to have any adverse affects, but the rule should put it in the video group.

well this is an rather old issue, that is caused by xorg imho

These devices aren't created by udev but by xorg, and xorg sets the permissions for it.

yes, remove the rule and set it from the DRI section in xorg.conf.
