Details
Description:"Configure Window Maker" option in WMRootmenu
results in error "Could not execute command: exec
WPrefs".
tried compiling windowmaker from the upstream source found on http://windowmaker.org/pub/source/release/WindowMaker-0.95.7.tar.gz instead. Followed the default procedure of ./configure --> make --> sudo make install, and that menu option did result in opening WPrefs app by default no problem. As it seems locally compiled from the upstream source wmaker puts WMPrefs to /usr/local/bin/WPrefs. Our repo's package puts WMPrefs to /usr/lib/GNUstep/Applications/WPrefs.app/WPrefs One thing to keep in mind is that /usr/lib/GNUstep/Applications/WPrefs.app/WPrefs is also set as the path for WPrefs dock app in ~./GNUstep/Defaults/WMState which currently functions perfectly fine for me. Similar bug was reported back in 2005 for version 0.92, link https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/3080 Additional info: * package version(s) Window Maker 0.95.7, rest of the system is up to date. * depends=('libxinerama' 'libxrandr' 'libxmu' 'libpng' 'libxpm' 'libxft' 'libtiff' 'giflib') * 4.8.13-1-ARCH #1 x86_64 GNU/Linux * dell vostro a860 * config and/or log files etc. doesn't seem to leave any errors in journalctl tried to log the compiling process from the upstream source, the output of which i attach in 3 files: wmconfigure --> wmmake --> wmmakeinstall Steps to reproduce: sudo pacman -S windowmaker, add exec wmaker to xinitrc, startx, chose "Configure Window Maker" on right-click WMRootmenu, observe the Error dialog |

i was able to replicate this on a different 64-bit machine with
the same steps described above. i know it's to no degree a
critical thing, not even close. but i would still qualify it as
some packaging issue worth taking a look at at some point. Please
correct me if i'm wrong in my perception of reporting this type of
bugs. Will be more then happy to further assist. cheers!
a patch upstream "which properly sets the path of WPrefs in the
default menu" was submitted by Debian maintainer. Link:
http://repo.or.cz/wmaker-crm.git/commitdiff/d48a370.
Still relevant for 0.95.8-2
