I have noticed with moving to the Linux 4.9 kernel,
Archlinux has started enabling SI support (GCN 1.0) at build
time, however I find it weird that CIK (GCN 1.1) support is
still disabled by default.
The config lines so far read: CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_SI=y # CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_CIK is not set Since CIK support (GCN 1.1) has been worked on and working for a number of months, whereas SI support (GCN 1.0) JUST landed with 4.9, it seems logical for CIK support to be enabled before SI support. Because right now the kernel is configured in such a way where AMDGPU can be used with anything prior to Radeon 7000 and anything newer than r9-380, but anything in the middle is in a weird void where we don't enabled support out of the box. TL:DR Please toggle CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_CIK=y in the default kernel config for GCN 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 support. |
