The mc-4.6.1-utf8.patch doesn't apply cleanly which makes
mcedit not functioning properly when (at least) Polish
letters (ISO-8859-2) are used. Please either fix the patch
(I hope the patch doesn't break mcedit with Polish letters
by design) or remove it.

Although the mc in testing in not perfect, is is as good or better than the one in extra? I'm asking because I might move the mc testing package in extra and have this bug fixed later.
Roman: Andy said that you were interested in maintaining mc. That's why I added you to the assignee. Could you look into this?
I'm using mc-hunarch from aur. It is heavily patched, but it works fine here. Maybe we should give a look its utf8 patches...

Yes.
I used to say "why don't you just use utf8?" (even if it still had some problems with some locales, people need to start using it so that it can be improved), but then I read this : http://www.modeemi.fi/~tuomov/b/archives/2006/08/26/T20_16_06/ and it made me think :)
Unfortunately that doesn't fix our problem.
