Description:
After upgrading the hplip package (3.16.7-1 -> 3.16.8-1), printing on a HP LaserJet 500 color M551 was not possible. Status: 'Filter failed' showed in system print dialog. Printing wasn't possible.
Work-around to solve the problem is downgrading to 3.16.7-1.
Additional I have to admit, that also cups-filters (1.11.1-1 -> 1.11.2-1) was updated. First attempt to downgrade only cups-filters yield to no success. After downgrading hplip, cups-filters was updated and functional of the printer wasn't affected.

Additional info:
* package version(s) 3.16.8-1
* attached cups error log

Steps to reproduce:
pacman -S hplip

As driver is used: HP LaserJet 500 color M551 Postscript (recommended) (color, 2-sided printing)
