Details

I've seen the following behaviour in the Gimp, OOo, Thunderbird, and GQView since the 2.10 upgrade.

When I click any of the drop-down menus, the menu is displayed correctly, but the menu title disappears. When I mouse-over a menu option, it disappears, but still works as expected when clicked.

Apologies - wrong Category. It should, of course, be Packages: Testing.

I can't reproduce this, what theme engine are you using, and has that theme engine been updated for GTK 2.10? (could be GTK does a fallback to the simple theme, which is imitated very bad by mozilla apps at least, and which looks like shit anyways).

Thanks JGC. I was just about to add a similar comment. I'm using Clearlooks, and after rebuilding it against 2.10, all is well again.

I'll upload it to Community when 2.10 goes Current.

Hmm, isn't clearlooks included in the gtk-engines package?
Comment by Tom Killian (tomk) - Saturday, 08 July 2006, 17:01 GMT
So it is. The package I'm talking about turned up in Community a while ago, orphaned, so I adopted it - I think it was one that Simo "demoted" from Extra. Probably should have checked it out first.

The tarball from clearlooks.sf.net includes a lot more than the gtk-engines one e.g. /usr/share/icons/Clearlooks, with 15 icons, each in 16x16 and 24x24, and three actual themes, DeepSky, Olive, and Quicksilver. The package also conflicts with gtk-engines.

Still, I should probably bin it, right?

You could try to remove the conflicting files from it, which would be the theme engines and the gtkrc file for the clearlooks theme itself. After that, make it depend on gtk-engines and you should have a complete clearlooks package that works again, with every version of GTK.

Done - thanks again. I guess this can be closed, as it was never really a bug.
