Details

Description:
When I choose the menu entry 'scan item to library' for my music files, kodi crashes without error message. Neither the crashlog nor the log under ~/.kodi shows any related message (kodi running in debug mode). This seems to happen due to some specific mp3 files, probably an issue with some of the id3 tags. Downgrading kodi to 15.2-2 solves the issue, version 15.2-3 up to 15.2-5 crashes. This indicates that the problem arises with the following patch: prevent-taglib-from-crashing-kodi.patch

Additional info:
* package version(s): 15.2-3 up to 15.2-5
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
* Install kodi >= 15.2-3
* add a directory with mp3 files to the music library (some mp3 files work, but many of mine don't)
* choose 'scan item to library' from the context menu

The prevent-taglib-from-crashing-kodi.patch doesn't actually fix this problem. The bug has since been identified and fixed in Kodi 16.

Here's the commit in case the maintainer wants to make a better patch for it: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/f5f73e2803c9df1129c96ccd2d6d1b71483c42d3

In particular, it's the isEmpty() check at line 227.
