DetailsI suggest to replace the original Netcat with GNU's Netcat in pacman repository, because of the following reasons:
1. GNU's Netcat comes with more options 2. GNU's Netcat comes with a manual (try 'man netcat' or 'man nc' after installing Netcat using pacman - voila - it doesn't work) 3. GNU's Netcat has a bug tracking system 4. GNU's Netcat has a CVS repository 5. GNU's Netcat is now the default in most of the distros, because it is better For all those reasons, I'd recommend replacing the original Netcat with GNU's Netcat. Additional links: 1. The thread in the forum where all of this started: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=166953 2. GNU's Netcat webpage: http://netcat.sourceforge.net/ 3. The original Netcat webpage: http://www.vulnwatch.org/netcat/ 4. GNU's Netcat which provided by tomk in AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=5367 |
