In AmaroK 1.4.0 (both amarok-base and amarok-base-mysqlfree) the "Rescan Collection" feature is not working properly. When you try to run this feature, it gets most of the way through (around 90%) and then terminates abruptly.

Additional comments about closing:  somehow amarok destroyed the db while upgrading from 1.3 -> 1.4. one needs to manually delete the collection.db and rebuild.

I tried that, and it still had the same problem. Other people in the IRC channel reported the same issue, both with 1.4.0 and 1.4.0a.

ok, i figured out how to solve it:

* close amarok
* open console
* cd ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok
* rm collection*
* then start amarok again... this time it will scan, rebuild the db and finish
