So, I've figured out what we need to do in order to make it work. We need to change CONFIG_I2C=m to CONFIG_I2C=y and add CONFIG_ACPI_I2C_OPREGION=y. After this, battery is being recognized.

Is this going to be fixed anytime soon ? I have already proposed the solution, so what is the problem ?

Why does it take so long ?

Anyway, I have created a custom kernel for Bay Trail devices, which X205TA users may want to use for now: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-baytrail/.
