Description:

A bug in the upstream xf86-video-vmware causes the Xorg server to spike to 100% cpu use and hang on the way down, whether via logout, shutdown, etc.

After much searching, i finally found a bug report against SUSE that corroborates exactly this issue and demonstrates that it's already been corrected in the upstream repository.

Steps to reproduce:

logout of a session or shut down / reboot the machine. it hangs until some other component kills the X server and continues on...
