Details

While doing pacman -Syu today to the [testing] repo, I encountered what I think is a bug.
checking package integrity... done.
loading package data... done.
checking for file conflicts...
error: the following file conflicts were found:
ntp: /etc/ntp.conf: exists in filesystem

ntp.conf should be perfectly alright as it is my own configuration file. A package upgrade shouldn't complain about it.

Just thought I'd let you know.

something made it... pacman -Qo /etc/ntp.conf will give you "no package owns file"

I see now. The old packaged had no ntp.conf in it. I remember making my own.
But it's still kinda weird that a package complaints that a configuration file is already in place. Could this be fixed somehow?

judd, could you add an check if the file exist and a package want to be upgraded had it in the backup array, it would save the existing file to $file.pacsave ?

I get the complaint " ntp: /etc/ntp.conf: exists in filesystem", even though I put "NoUpgrade = /etc/ntp.conf" in /etc/pacman.conf. Also, my ntp.conf was over-written by the upgrade.

ntp.conf wasn't handled by the package manager. in the new version it is.
