The following link shows that the release was bumped but the only thing changed was the pkgver.

Forgot to mention, 1.01 came out in the time the package was in staging (or whatever you call the package intermediary).

That was a fix because in the previous commit Bartolomej forgot to reset the pkgrel: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/protobuf-c&id=00f762ba33f49154c7dac139b07ca5de023bdbd2
