Hi,

I have reproduced all the issues you've reported and raised an issue upstream.

There is an alternative battery applet in the `mate-applets` package which is `upower` 1.0 ready. Here is a temporary work around:

* Install `mate-applets`.
* Right click a Panel, select 'Add to Panel...', select 'Battery Charge Monitor' and click 'Add'
* Right click the batery applet you just added, select 'Preferences' and configure the notifcations to alert you when battery levels are low.

I've reproduced the same issue. Additionally, in the bug report it said "The laptop doesn´t shutdown on critical battery state anymore." What I found was that my laptop suspended on critical battery state when it should have hibernated. Anyway, the Battery Charge Monitor applet works correctly for me. Thanks.

Upstream have a potential fix. I'll be testing that and hopefully releasing updated packages soon.

mate-power-manager 1.8.0-4 has just been released to [community]. This should resolve the outstanding issues with upower 0.99.
