Description:
Why is mplayer-vaapi explictly compiled to disable vdpau support? I have managed to compile the package with vdpau support by changing the "disable" to "enable" in the configure section. |

I can't think of a specific reason for this, but couldn't you use
the regular mplayer package for vdpau support?

While that's true, I was wondering if the two packages could just
be merged so there's just one mplayer package that supports both
vdpau and vaapi.

It's not possible for now as vaapi patches are not upstreamed.

Bartłomiej is correct in that the mplayer package will remain
vanilla and could only support vaapi if the patches get merged
upstream.
