Details
This commit from April 1st 2013:
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/pulseaudio&id=fc89abba5f19e768397f4188a59028a8a17c434c Disabled autospawn in /etc/pulse/client.conf by default. This is not the default upstream behavior. This causes an issue in KDE where KMix fails to connect to pulseaudio at boot and thus loads incorrectly. See: 1. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167358 2. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326947 The responding KDE developer mentioned in the bug report: "I would advise you guys to poke your relevant distro people about ensuring autospawn is enabled by default (which it is upstream). This isn't the only place where problems related to that will be exposed." I added a line in the PulseAudio wiki page to document this issue and instruct KDE users to enable autospawn. However, I feel that since this is an issue introduced due to divergence from default upstream configuration, it might be a better option to revert this change and not disable autospawn by default. This would also be more in-line with https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux#Source_Integrity . |
