It works for me. You'll need to give more information on how to duplicate this. It's a single python script without any apparent usage of unsafe low-level APIs.

It affects all versions of transmission-remote-cli (I've checked 1.5.0, 1.6.0, 1.6.1, 1.6.2). I just download script, change python to python2 and launch it.

It seems it all started after this update:

Do other Python2 applications work for you?
Comment by Anton Larionov (diffycat) - Sunday, 29 September 2013, 07:43 GMT
I've found problem, it's somehow related to 'python2-geoip'. When I delete it transmission-remote-cli starts working fine otherwise it's segfaults.
Comment by Daniel Micay (thestinger) - Sunday, 29 September 2013, 07:43 GMT
Does it still happen if you reinstall geoip, geoip-database and python2-geoip?
Comment by Anton Larionov (diffycat) - Sunday, 29 September 2013, 07:54 GMT
Yes, it's still the same behaviour.

It's an issue with the `python2-geoip` package. I'm closing in favour of https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/37119
