Description:

I suggest to compile the kernel with options:

CONFIG_LOGO=y
CONFIG_LOGO_LINUX_MONO=y
CONFIG_LOGO_LINUX_VGA16=y
CONFIG_LOGO_LINUX_CLUT224=y

Why?

- A person who does not want to see the logo on the standard configuration will not see him,
- A person who wants to have a logo now need to manually recompile the kernel with these flags,

It was a surprise to Linux v3.11:

That doesn't really explain anything. The exact "arguments" you give for enabling this option can be turned around for disabling the option.

Relevant: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24654

I do not agree that the arguments can be reversed.
Enabling these options will anyone any problems (by default, the logo is not visible)
and save some work (recompile the kernel).

Arguments of https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24654 do not match here because this is the inclusion of default Tux logo and not the Arch logo.

I thought you need to add logo.nologo to cmdline to disable display of the logo?

The logo serves no purpose at all. It is only even visible during the few seconds you actually boot, making it even more useless.

It is not even worth our time to argue about this, let alone do anything about it.
