mplayer-plugin 3.17-1 does not let me save down a .mov file anymore, even if it's completely downloaded. This used to work.

try these, they should work with the stock 3.17. all in the video section should work fine.

No, it only worked for the Star Wars clip and the Divx one. All the rest codecs did NOT let download the video. And honestly, I don't care much about these videos. I want the Apple Qt videos to work without the current sound stagering and the inability to save them.

try 3.17-2 or higher, there is a config file named /etc/mplayer-plugin.conf. if you prefer to have a per user configuration you may copy it to one of the following locations (in search order):

$HOME/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf
$HOME/.mozilla/mplayerplug-in.conf

there are a couple of settings you can now try. in general, this is still an issue with mplayer-plugin as a piece of software, not packaging.
