And with gnome 3.8?

same issue exists with gnome 3.8. I was able to work around it by enabling sna, but that started causing my gpu to hang.

So, then, the final workaround was to downgrade to kernel 3.4.3-1 and keep sna enabled. This fixes all the glitches and does not hang my machine. It does cause gnome-shell to leak a lot of memory though, so I need to keep restarting the shell from time-to-time. Sadly, there is no happy place for me right now.

I can confirm it with linux 3.0.79-1-lts and cinnamon

it happens to me too:
linux-lts-3.0.80-1
gnome-shell-3.8.2-4
There is no difference in using UXA/SNA
