Reason for closing: Fixed
Additional comments about closing: Hal should create the user on postinstall correctly now. When this fails, the postinstall will give a message about it, it's up to the user to fix it then.

This is related to hal, as that should have added the "hal" user
to your system. Please try reinstalling hal, it should create the
required users.

Yes, this was my first thought, too. But a peek at the hal CVS has
not revealed anything about an user "hal". Now, after a closer
look, I have noticed hal.install is missing in CVS. I'll open a
new bug report.
