Description:

I upgraded my system yesterday with a 'pacman -Syu' as every week. The upgrade pulled imagemagick-6.8.3.10-1-x86_64.
I have an Fvwm X session, with a script using ImafeMagick's display to set wallpapers on the X root window [0].
Essentially, it does this
display -backdrop -window root ${DESTIMAGE}
where ${DESTIMAGE} is randomly selected, but it's probably beyond the point.

I reproduced this twice, rebooting in between, and downgrading to 6.8.2.3-1 fixed the problem.

Additional info:
* imagemagick-6.8.3.10-1-x86_64
* dmesg showing the OOM attached
* [0] https://scm.narf.ssji.net/svn/shtrom/browser/default-env/bin/setbg.sh
* The machine is an Intel Core i5-2520M 2.50GHz, with 8G of RAM (Dell e6320)

Steps to reproduce:
* Get the script from [0];
* Have it called from a user's .xprofile;
* Log in as that user;
* Watch as the system crawls for a bit with high load and almost full RAM use, until the OOM.
