Description:
Running "display" application from imagemagic package to set root window wallpaper causes high CPU load in both display and X.org processes. display at 20-30% CPU and X.org ~90% CPU. If left running will cause gfx driver to crash, both nouveau and NVIDIA proprietary become unstable and suffer GPU lockup in the extreme case. As of reporting this both 2 latest imagemagic packages cause the issue. Downgrading to "imagemagick 6.8.2.3-1" resolves the issue. Additional info: * package version(s) imagemagick 6.8.3.10-1 imagemagick 6.8.3.9-1 nvidia 313.26-2 mesa-libgl 9.1.1-1 nouveau-dri 9.1.1-1 linux 3.8.4-1 xorg-server 1.14.0-2 fluxbox 1.3.5-1 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: $ display -window root /path/file.jpe & $ top |
