qtcreator 2.7.9rc-1 will crash with illegal instruction.
This is likely due to missing SSE2 support on older CPUs, as
this is a common issue these days.

What arch? I take it your processor is bound to i686? Since we
compile with -march=i686, this sounds like an upstream bug.
Yes, it's i686. But it doesn't appear to be an upstream bug. The
binary package from
http://releases.qt-project.org/qtcreator/2.7.0-rc/
runs just fine. Maybe some qmake parameter is missing?
