The current version of VLC in testing 2.0.5-3 does not play
Windows Media ASX streams as for example on
http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/1841148/?bc=svp;sv0&flash=off
The video is ok, but about half of the audio packages are lost and thus you only get to hear more white noise than real audio signal. To make it work again downgrade to vlc 2.0.5-2, ffmpeg 1:1.0.1-1 and x264 to extra-repo is neccessary. |

the only solution is to go downgrade:
ffmpeg-1:1.0.1-1
vlc-2.0.5-2
x264-20121113-1
FS#33909looks to be the same issue (ffmpeg).There's also this forum thread:

Of course it sounds great in MPlayer...not sure what's up with VLC
I attached a short recording of what it sounds like in vlc for those who don't have this problem.
