Description:
As of Linux 3.7.3-3, cpupower fails to automatically load powernow-k8 module.

cpupower 3.7.3

Steps to reproduce:
Update to Linux kernel 3.7.3-3; check to see if powernow-k8 module is loaded (or if any cpupower kernel module is loaded at all).

I have attempted to manually load the powernow-k8 module and receive the message (no such device). However, when I load the acpi-cpufreq module, it works fine. I am currently using an HP Tx2500, and the powernow-k8 module used to be the correct module. My system doesn't automatically load acpi-cpufreq either. My workaround was to add "modprobe acpi-cpufreq" to my "/etc/conf.d/cpupower". That doesn't solve the problem of automatic module loading though.

This problem persists after kernel update (3.7.4-1).

There is no cpupower 3.7.3 provided by Archlinux. I guess you mean cpupower 3.7-3 and linux 3.7.4-1.

I'm wondering if it's related to cpupower or to the kernel autoloader.
If you downgrade your kernel to a previous known working version with last cpupower, does it works?
