Description:

ttf-dejavu is mentioned as a dependency in chromium. Obviously it needs a set a fonts to work but not precisely ttf-dejavu. It is only one of the set of fonts provided by archlinux and completely not essential to browse the web (the majority of people browsing the web do not have this font, not included by default in other OS). Firefox do have this dependency.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
24.0.1312.52-1
* config and/or log files etc.

See this related bug:

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26012

Theres quite a few packages that need a font, but not a specific one.

Probably the best solution is to put a provides=(core-ttf-font) in all the ttf fonts packages and make chromium (and other software) depends on core-ttf-fonts; I think most of modern X applications are somewhat affected.
